Much to Jax's shock, Clay confesses to SAMCRO that he killed Piney, but lies about the circumstances, saying it was self-defence during an argument about working with Galindo. He also tells them it was Opie who shot him, much to Tig's horror, who now realises how ill-advised his attempt to kill Laroy really was. To demonstrate his willingness to go to extremes, Pope has Laroy murdered and dismembered, with Tyler Yost (Mo McRae) reluctantly taking over as leader of the 9ers, under instructions from Pope's right-hand man August Marks (Billy Brown) that the feud with SAMCRO is over. However, witnesses suddenly identify Jax, Chibs, and Tig for the death of Pope's daughter and the subsequent shootout during the chase from Oakland, forcing Jax and Chibs into hiding at Nero's brothel, Diosa, until they can secure protection for when they go behind bars.
