With the 2013 discovery of Richard III's body, a team of experts investigate: Could the slight, English King who had severe scoliosis, been the feared warrior depicted in contemporary accounts ? For an answer, scientists employ a war re-enactor, who happens to have a similar build and medical condition. Dominic Smee is outfitted with 15th Century armor and sword, then trained on medieval horseback combat. Richard was the last British monarch killed on a battlefield. His 1485 defeat at Bosworth Field, marked the end of the Plantagenet Dynasty and the Middle Ages in England, plus the beginning of Tudor reign. Or was Richard the cowardly villain portrayed by Shakespeare, as killing his nephews as children, to become King ? Written by David Stevens
